The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I could see this being turned into a movie. It's kind of like Harry Potter without the magic. I want to say I loved it, because it started out great, but it didn't stay great. It was good, but not great.
Four orphans are chosen as exceptionally gifted and sent on a mission to prevent an evil mastermind from taking over the world. Their initial tests are fun and challenging (logic puzzles that are written so the reader has a chance to solve them as well before learning the answer), but once their mission begins, it becomes less like a puzzle and more like a crazy story.
