Although this book doesn't have much in the way of plot (unless you count time passing), there's something about Fannie Flagg's writing that makes me feel good. Almost 500 pages go by, chronicling 50 years in Elmwood Springs, Missouri. Children grow up, move away, and have children of their own. The old folks chuckle about it, then pass away. And the comfort of small town life is snuggly. It's like a visit with old friends.
