Back to Blogger

I'm back at Blogger, and I'd like to briefly explain why: WordPress sucks. At least, my implementation of it does. I like to personalize things, and WordPress allows that, but it also requires a lot of coding. To make it use the Google fonts, I had to edit the style sheet. That's fine, except that every time there was an update--to WordPress OR a plugin, which happens a lot-- it reset my templates and I had to go in and re-edit them.

As if that weren't bad enough, the template was flawed in a way that I could never solve. KP pointed out that the previous/next post buttons didn't work. When investigating that, I realized that the archive page didn't work either. WTF? I was using the TwentyTen template, the original WordPress template! It shouldn't have bugs like this. And navigating their help files was futile for a non-coder.

So now that Blogger is updating their templates and making it easy to customize without any coding, I'm back. I've pointed my domain name here, but your RSS feed link may need updating.

The only thing I wasn't able to do (sadly) is put my latest tweet in the header, like I did using WordPress (took me about 20 hours to figure out how). There are twitter plugins that do that, and some old code that does it, but not very nicely. They either make it look like a widget box (I'd like it integrated into my design) or they add their own icons and links (ugly!). Also, I want it to only show tweets that are not @somebody. So if you know how to do that, comment!
